Most EXPENSIVE BBQ of My LIFE! Franklin Barbecue & Salt Lick, Austin TX


Welcome back to Guga Foods everybody
as you can see I’m not in the house today I’m right here in Franklin’s
Barbecue. We are waiting in line it is freezing Emilio right here come over
here Emilio I got my brother Emilio here I got my friends here Oscar and
Professor come over here with me. It is so cold but these guys are used to
the you know cold but I’m freezing like there’s no tomorrow. What’s up everybody we are here on Salt
Lick it is a very famous restaurant in Austin Texas. Now they have a great
special here which is basically $24 and you have unlimited amount of meat so
that’s pretty cool we’re gonna give that a try. For me my top favorite the best thing
that they had in Salt Lick was the pork ribs the beef ribs were good as well but
I felt like they put so much pepper I’m telling you guys he has a whole lot of
pepper. You know it’s not like short ribs its beef back ribs so they don’t have as
much meat as short ribs. The sausage was alright and the side dishes were okay.
And if you’re gonna go to Salt Lick make sure you definitely give it a try to
those pork ribs. Now as you know I’m not alone on this trip I had my friends with
me and here’s what they had to say about it check it out. It was good overall the
experience, the good thing is you don’t have to do any line like here at
Franklin. I like the beef ribs, I like the pork ribs, I like the sausage
but nothing blows my mind. But it’s good it’s good don’t take me wrong is it it
was good or the atmosphere it’s you feel like you feel in Texas and that’s a good
thing. I was expecting more on brisket and beef
ribs. My favorite was the baby back ribs baby back ribs pork and the brisket was
good but I was expecting a little more the place was amazing very big the smoke
everywhere so the experience was amazing. But the food I was expecting a little
more the flavor very good I liked pimienta so it was good flavor and good
texture but it was okay but not amazing. But my favorite was definitely the pork
ribs and I really liked the sausages and brisket ah yeah I was expecting a little
bit more I think it was a little bit no I won’t say dry but it wasn’t that moist
like I was expecting it. But overall I think the experience was great great
atmosphere I think is a real Texan place. A lot of people everybody was nice and
friendly so I think that the most important and most valuable is
experience it was great. We had a wonderful time in Salt Lick
everybody and if you have a chance to experience it I recommend it it is a
great atmosphere restaurant and you will enjoy it. But we are here in Franklin’s
right now waiting for this line. Let me tell you something if you want to eat
some good barbecue in Franklin you have to be committed we got here at 5:00 a.m.
and we’re not even the first ones in line. And right here behind me, there’s
not a lot of people right now right? But watch this! Look at the size of that bite everybody
look at that! He’s no playing around love it.
Okay I’m gonna go for the short rib too. Falling off the bone as you can see. Look
at tha, and if I probably oh there you go.
There you go right there! Smells incredible. Okay enough talking
let’s give it a try. That is good. This is the flat
perfectly, perfectly, perfectly. Oh man! Flat was very juicy, incredible. And now I have to try
the point. As expected very fatty oh just, just falling apart,
completely falling apart Come on man! Wow that’s a wonderful brisket! It is a
wonderful brisket, I understand why people do the line. Oh my God. Absolutely amazing
everybody the brisket that’s why everybody says it’s the best, and it’s the
truth, it is the best. Get that pork rib everybody, check out that pork rib. Here’s the pork rib. Fall off the bone for sure. Yep
100% fall off the bone look at that. Completely bone is off. Oh Oh Ah, ha, ha, ha… That’s good. Here we got the turkey
everybody. Let’s give that a try. A lot of seasoning on the turkey. A lot of pepper. Very juicy you can feel that clarified butter. It’s good! Oh the sausage Oscar. We are ready for the sausage. Here is the sausage everybody. Let’s try that sausage I like the sausage too
I like everything. 80% beef 10% ah, no 15% pork and 5% beef heart, beef heart. Hey Aaron how are you? We got Aaron over here. What’s going on? What are you working on? We ordered quite a few. Thank you so much. It is absolutely impressive. Awesome! Another level man. Thank you. It’s a different level from what we ever tried before. Well we use a lot of good
cord blood. It’s really funny seeing a pork rib next to a beef rib. Yea it dwarfs it out. Look at the contrast. Absolutely. Thank you guys for hanging out, holler if you need anything. Thank you so much Aaron I
appreciate it! What do you think about the beans? For
for me it’s like a chili bean or something. I like it. Oh its spicy. I like it. It is spicy. It is spicy I taste a little bit of like chili sauce in them. It’s good. We also got
coleslaw let’s give that a try. Oh Iike that, Iike that. This one is good Oscar. I like that I
like that better than I like the beans. It’s nice and refreshing it cleans your
palate as you’re eating because you’re eating a lot of meat obviously and
everything has a lot of salt. But man this salad I definitely recommend it
everybody. It is nice very refreshing cuz everything is salt pepper, salt pepper.
It taste fresh. Yeah. Fresh. Right it cleans it cleans your palate. I was expecting
something sweet but it’s not. No not sweet. But the magic is really the
brisket. The brisket is the magic. Oh that’s good I’m impressed, I am. The best brisket I ever, I ever? I ever ate. I ever ate! it is impressive everybody impressive. Here’s the pulled pork. Is sweet. It’s cold? It’s sweet. That’s a great pulled pork. Yeah I like it. It’s really good But the brisket is better huh? Oh of course, yeah. It’s really good. Try the potato salad. There’s a lot of pickle in there. Oh man that’s a lot of pickle yeah. It tastes 75% pickle yeah. The flavors are very
well balanced and that’s quite interesting because nothing is
overpowering, not too much smoke, not too much pepper, not too much
seasoning. The seasoning amount is absolutely perfect. Cooked to perfection
obviously. Everything just falls apart as you’re eating it
there is nothing there’s no real bite on the resistance everything is falling
apart every single thing. And if that’s the thing you like then this is perfect if
you like a little bite on it then it’s a lot of people will consider over it cook.
I enjoyed it, I enjoyed it a lot that’s all I have to say about that. Side dishes
for me the winner has to be the coleslaw slaw coleslaw perfection. Yeah, coleslaw was good. Perfection. Is it expensive? Yes. Yes Is it a long wait? Yes. Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. Yes, it is worth it everybody. He does a great job on the barbecue and if you
have time and patience to experience it do it! It it was worth the wait. Oh it was absolutely worth it. Yeah I agree with you, I will do it again, I would do it again. The wait was fun. Yeah. It wasn’t just sitting. And you don’t have to know anybody to come here. I showed up by myself and made friends. There you go! Thanks for hanging out with us. Oh yea. It’s been fun. You see t is a wait but you know if you talk barbecue and the time does’t take that long to go
right? No it flies by. Yeah I agree. It was fun. it was amazing, amazing that is the best, best barbecue that I’ve ever had. I
mean it is the best barbecue in the world, probably. Amazing! The best one in
there? Beef ribs dinosaur ribs yeah Because the brisket is amazing but they
only do the ribs on Saturdays so it’s something special it’s like this size
bone. Yeah it’s big. Yeah. First of all can we all recognize the hat
everybody. God bless America. That’s right, that’s right. Oh wow I think it’s amazing is the best
barbecue I ever taste. The beef ribs was very nice, my favorite was the the point in the brisket. Oh wow! Falling apart. That was amazing The flavor so intense I’d I don’t know
how much to say but it was really really, really good you, you have to do it. alright guys this was our experience in Austin with my awesome friends I hope
