A Plane Crash Reignites 9/11 Anxiety

NARRATOR: November
12th, 2001– it’s the Veteran’s Day holiday
in the United States, a day off for many. But at New York’s John F Kennedy
airport, it’s another busy day. Flight 587 lifts off at 9:14 AM. [SIGH] American 587, heavy– NARRATOR: 2,300 feet above
the ground, disaster strikes. [SCREAMING] Oh my god! Oh my god, oh my– NARRATOR: The plane
is losing altitude and falling out of the sky. Holy crap. NARRATOR: And the plane is
heading straight for the houses of Queens, New York. The sound at first was just
a normal airplane flying above. I was still in bed, kind of
half sleeping, half awake. As it started to get
louder, that’s when you felt a little vibration. [SCREAMING] Oh my god! We’re stuck in it. (ON RADIO) Tower,
look to the south. There’s an aircraft crashing. Airplane going down. Get out of it! Get out of it. Get out of it. [SCREAMING] The house started
vibrating very heavily. You know, this all
happened really quick. [CRASH] NARRATOR: The fuel ignites
a massive fireball, engulfing several homes. [SIRENS] My whole window
was bright orange, really loud, really bright. I just jumped up
looking for my glasses and pretty much with my dad, ran
out to the front of the house. Are you missing any flights? American Airlines Flight 587. We ran out the front door. All I could see is I
didn’t have my glasses. I couldn’t find my glasses. The whole street was
covered in flames. My whole side of my house
was covered in flames. And there was black
smoke billowing up, like, really high. What the hell happened? I remember looking
back into my house. And the whole kitchen
area was just black. It was all thick
black smoke already. NARRATOR: Fire rips through
the quiet neighborhood. And a city still in shock
from the events of 9/11 is plunged back
into fear and chaos. Plane! [INAUDIBLE] plane. NARRATOR: Was this terrorism,
or was it an accident?

  1. This wasn't a terrorist attack. Since the fin of the plane flew off without anyone who works for the plane they they couldn't control its not a terrorist attack.

  2. I’m pretty sure this was the flight that crashed because either the pilot or first officer were trained in another aircraft and during turbulence used the rudder pedals to hard and fast and it snapped the tail plane off

  3. 2001 was the darkest year for aviation even not considering the attacks. I live in Italy and the Linate disaster on October 8th still remains the deadliest plane(s) crash ever.

  4. I'm so sorry for people who died on and in the plane and the area. I am very very very very very very sad to this day. My heart is broken💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔 sorry and sorry for your lost to their families

  5. Smithsonian Channel: was it an ascendant or terrorisme

Wel you can clearly see that vertical stabilator fell of so WHY MAN WHY

  6. Video shows part of the tail falling off then at the ends asks if it was on purpose or not?🤯

  7. 1:21 that guy.made me cry by his face😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪this co pilot killed 200 people

  8. I can imagine this as an ad for Alaska airlines😂. You see people this is why you never fly American.🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️😉

  9. I hate when I get really into a history clip and they ask a really interesting question at the end and I can’t find the other clip😭😭😭😂

  10. accident becuse look a bad person wouldent do that they wouldent car but they did so its an accdeint look at this 0:32 there saying get out of it

  11. It’s really sad to think that a 9/11 survivor was on this plane

And the crash was caused by a poorly trained pilot that aggressively tilts the rudder back and forth
Which caused the vertical stabiliser to be broken off

  12. Some Tips: Stay calm, sit in the farthest seat back, count rows etc. to see where the emergency doors/windows are, wear long sleeve shirts/pants and running shoes, and get away as far as possible if you've escaped.
