5 Tips on Changing a Diaper on a Plane | Baby Travel

Hi. I’m Jennifer Durbin, and I’ve got some great
tips for you on changing your baby’s diaper on a plane. Changing a baby’s diaper is never fun, let
alone in a bathroom the size of a Port-A-Potty; but if you do a few things to prep yourself
before this adventure, it’s super easy. So before you leave your seat to go and change
the baby, make sure you double check to see if you’re going to need a change of clothes
too. You don’t want to get stuck in an airplane
bathroom with no clean clothes to put back on the baby. Now there’s no problem walking back to the
seat with a baby just in a diaper, but it’s easier if you have the change of clothes with
you. You’ll also want to have a Ziploc bag. Take a gallon-size bag with you so you can
put the dirty clothes in it, so you’re not carrying those back to the seat as well. Now before you go to change the baby, you
want to make sure you’re only taking what you need, because again, you’re not going
to have any space to spare. So take a diaper, a pack of wipes, and a changing
pad. Leave the diaper bag behind. You don’t want to be fumbling around with
that in the bathroom. You’ll find that the changing table usually
folds down on top of the toilet, which does give you a good bit of space. It’s right next to the sink, so that makes
washing your hands much easier. So with these few easy tips, you’ll find that
it’s really not as difficult as you might think to change your baby in an airplane bathroom.

  1. oh my god 2nd comment someone give this guy a silver metal. To think that this person could get 2nd on a video that's going to get 100 views! I wish i were you man. Congrats

  2. Yeah but what if you're by yourself with two kids ? You can't just leave your other child by them self at your seats..

  3. It's not as bad as most people think. You end up having lots more room standing up than when you use the toilet for yourself. Yes be prepare… don't bring crappy disposable diapers. I have cloth diaper baby since birth including the times I took the plane (since 1 month old) and that in any length (including a travel of 25 hours while we have all our belonging with us as we were moving… carry on baby items and our precious (all the electronic, computers) with us on board and to carry around from on flight to another. The most relaxing part of the travel will be the flight it self when you are seated (the worst is all the security, mostly if your passing through the states). I HAVE NEVER HAD A SINGLE DIAPER EXPLOSION WITH CLOTH (FITTED) DIAPERS! So it's all wort it. Yes you can do it. We had three compression bags (on for clean diaper on reserve, on for the clean diaper we though we need for the flight (minimum) and on for the dirty for once we off the plane we would transfer) and our diaper dry bag for the dirty diaper on the plane (no no it doesn't smell… disposable stink horribly, not cloth (and yes in any case you should put the poo in the toilet…). Baby was very good and you get so much help from the flight attendant. Try to get on before and make sure to make a contact with them. Ask them if they can help you with washroom break so that you don't have to go through lineups with baby some staff are very understandable and would help you and most other passengers understand that if you are not stress baby will be more pleasant.
